Your Vocal Image

Published by kate

Many people fail in their communication simply because the inflections, pitch, or speed of their words don’t align with their message.  If you need to negotiate in your work, you need to have a speech pattern that supports negotiations, If you want others to trust you, you have to sound trustworthy.  your pitch, speed of delivery and intensity of sound can imply such things as friendliness or hostility, tolerance or prejudice, and weakness or strength.

Our voices are created through imitation,  We imitate sounds we hear.  Many successful people have imitated the actions, sounds and styles of their mentors.  Perhaps you have too.  Imitation has probably helped you, but it’s not the only answer.  Let’s face it, you are unique.  There is not another person on the planet like you. You may look like your father, but you are not him.  Likewise, there is not another voice exactly like yours.  you may sound a little like your sister, but you’ll never sound exactly like her.  Your thoughts offer a slightly different perspective on life.  The world want to hear what you have to offer, and the world wants to hear your unique voice.

I will be sharing thoughts on vocal image from time to time in my writings here, and I encourage you to dialog with me about that as well.  To learn more, though, check out my bookCan You Hear Me Now? on my web site.  There is an entire chapter on vocal image, with a thorough guide to discovering how your voice sounds to others today, and how to change it if you want to.
